Throwback Thursday: Vintage Gold Earrings

A month ago, BF and I were in LA, so we decided to check out the Los Feliz/ Silver Lake area, rated the #1 hipster hood in the US.  After brunch on the patio, we strolled up and down the streets and stumbled across Co-op 28 Handmade, a store with a cool collection of vintage digs and décor in the back.  I spotted these gold drop earrings, made eye contact with them, and the rest was history.  Love at first sight!  To me, shopping is all about gut.  You either get a feeling, or you don’t.  I can’t stand going shopping with friends that are too indecisive.  Drives me insane!  Anyway, back to the earrings.  Here they are paired with one of my favorite dresses from H&M with gold buttons.  Oh, and my new black suede Ash booties that are hot hot hot!

Throwback Thursday: Don’t you wanna Fanta?

Last week’s Mickey Mouse throwback got such a great response, so I thought I’d throw out another….Orange Fanta.  Remember when this soda was so hot in the 80’s and early 90’s?    Before society got wind that soda’s were evil and banned them from schools?  I never really liked the artificial taste of orange soda, but I totally dug the electrifying color.  Insert Fanta tee (below).

Collar me happy!

If you’ve flipped through the latest fashion mags, then you know that it’s all about the collar. I’m obsessed! These whimsy plays off the adorable Peter Pan collar make me happy, thus the title! Whether it’s in the form of a necklace, a knit shirt, or a button down, I love ’em all. Mix and match ’em up to your heart’s delight! Here’s one that I found at my local H&M with subtle black beads that sparkle in the light. Eeee! Collar me happy!

P.S. Don’t be shy! Go ahead and ‘like’ the post if you like it…or ‘comment’ if you have comment.

Animal prints: See me ROAR

Literally…do you see me roar?  Top left.  That’s me roaring.  I’m roaring while wearing a cheetah print tank styled with grey animal print jeggings.  I was little hesitant doing animal on animal, but sometimes you just need to embrace it and go full throttle.  ROAR.

Twofer Tuesdays: 1 skirt, 2 ways

Not sure where Twofer Tuesdays started, but I first heard the term from my friend’s mom Shelly, who’s always on the hunt for a good bargain.  It’s a nicer, more suave way of saying BOGO.  You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this…Well, today is your lucky day because you’re getting a Two-fer with this post:  1 skirt, 2 ways.  Enjoy!

Deets: 5/48 pink maxi skirt (Off 5th) styled 2 ways…1) Tribal vibe with lots of bangles 2) Feminine and flirty with a chunky pink H&M necklace and Caslon top

Failed DIY sock bun experiment

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

There’s a reason why I explicitly say in my bio that this is NOT a DIY blog.  Here’s the perfect case in point.  This weekend I was at H&M and got super excited when I noticed they were selling a sock bun contraption, but a sleeker version.  For $3.95, I feel like I couldn’t go wrong.  If it worked great, if not…no biggie.  I get home and look online for the famous sock bun tutorial.  I was inspired my one of my co-workers who starting sporting this hairstyle a few weeks back.  Anyway, suffice to say, I think I was a good student.  I watched the video and tried to repeat, but alas, all I ended up with was a crooked tangled mess.  Looked more like a deformed spider web than a sock bun.  I think it has something to do with my Asian hair.  It’s too heavy, so doesn’t really hold any style that long.  Apparently, it works best if your hair is greasy or teased, but haven’t been brave enough to try the ole sock bun again.  Maybe in a few weeks.  Got any tips for me?

See the disaster below….

Here’s what it should really look like:

12 more days of Summer

I’m always sad when it feels like summer is coming to an end.  I kind of feel it right about now.  You start to see the backpacks, pencils, and folders piled high at Target.  I’ve been out of school for a while now, but these are the signs that fall is right around the corner.  I have nothing against fall… I love a good pumpkin pie…but summer is happy time.  Sun in the fun, smiles, ice cream.  In honor of my favorite season of the year, I’m going to try to squeeze in as many summer outfits as I can between now and when it gets too cold to wear ’em anymore.  Here’s one of them:

This Yellow ain’t Mellow

If you haven’t guessed already, I love the color yellow.  So much so that it’s one of my wedding colors.  Yellow ain’t mellow, man.  It’s anything but!  It’s bright, vibrant, and bold.  It puts you in a good mood and makes you smile (just like the kind 🙂 from the Donovan song). Just try wearing it for one day.  You’ll see what I mean.  It’s addictive!  Here’s a little teaser to get your started….

If you haven’t thought about yellow nail polish, DO IT!  Looks hot with these summer sandals I snagged at the Saks Off Fifth outlet.  Oh, and look at this cute polka dot and striped bikini.  Target, baby!  30 buckaroos.

H&M swim coverup dress that I wear as a regular dress (with a slip underneath) paired with a striped lightweight scarf.  Or, prep it up with a J Crew knit vest (that is sexy as hell for a vest) with a pair of white shorts.
