Chunky Infinity Scarf

Keep your neck warm (and stylish) with an infinity scarf.  I got this one last year at Bloomie’s.  I think it’s Aqua, but I can’t be sure.  I cut the tag off!  Anyway, I love it because it’s chunky with flecks of gold in it- just the right hint of holiday flair.  I happen to have a 3/4 sleeve Gap shirt (from a decade ago) that’s about the same shade.  When paired together it actually looks like it’s one piece!  Tricky, tricky!

Cold weather hats with a Spice Girls twist

Brrrrr…The weather has been ridiculous lately.  It’s November, but literally a week ago I was strutting around in shorts and dresses.  Overnight, it dropped 20 degrees and sadly I had to break out the winter gear.  😦  The good news is that hats are cute.  Here’s a look at some of my faves in the closet. Thought it would be fun to give ‘em a Spice Girls twist.  If each Spice Girls had to choose a hat from my closet, they would go with…

Holiday Dresses

It’s never too early to start thinking about holiday looks.  I always feel like fall hits and next thing you know, the holidays are upon is and you’re scrambling last minute for the perfect outfit for the awkward office holiday party or your friend’s annual holiday cookie exchange.  Here’s a Cynthia Steffe summer dress that I snagged a few months back, but I’m totally going to re-purpose it for December.  Why not?  I live in Cali and I can.  The weather ain’t that cold and that’s why I live here. For more inspiration, check out this red Aqua dress.

Cozy Navajo Sweater & Tribal Earrings

A perfect weekend outfit:  Cozy sweater (like this Navajo inspired Vince one) + a pair of comfy, worn-in boots.   If you’re up for it, dress it up with tribal inspired jewelry like these cool earrings.  And if it’s cold where you are, I would suggest wearing pants and not re-creating my Tom Cruise Risky Business moment.

Throwback Thursday: Vintage Gold Earrings

A month ago, BF and I were in LA, so we decided to check out the Los Feliz/ Silver Lake area, rated the #1 hipster hood in the US.  After brunch on the patio, we strolled up and down the streets and stumbled across Co-op 28 Handmade, a store with a cool collection of vintage digs and décor in the back.  I spotted these gold drop earrings, made eye contact with them, and the rest was history.  Love at first sight!  To me, shopping is all about gut.  You either get a feeling, or you don’t.  I can’t stand going shopping with friends that are too indecisive.  Drives me insane!  Anyway, back to the earrings.  Here they are paired with one of my favorite dresses from H&M with gold buttons.  Oh, and my new black suede Ash booties that are hot hot hot!

Leather Bound

Every girl (no matter how prim and proper or straight laced) wants to feel a little rock and roll edgy (slash naughty) every now and then. 🙂  So how about them leather?  From leather pants to moto-chic boots and jackets, it’s one of the hottest trends right now.  I’m totally on the hunt for some leather leggings, so if you find some them that are cute, fit well, and don’t break the bank, then holla at me!    The one thing I did find the other day is this fantastic faux leather dress from the new Nicole Richie line for Macy’s Impulse.  The southwestern inspired neckline is so boho-moto chic!  I love that former wild child Richie has turned into a fashionista with a mini empire.  First, House of Harlow and now this.  Keep it coming, girl!  And to complete the motorcycle-inspired look, how about this fabulous clutch with zipper and grommet detail.  I got it a while back at Barney’s, but can’t figure out the designer.  Sorry, you’ll just have to find your own!

Lady in Red

Red is one of my favorite colors.  I still have my red Nicole Miller prom dress with a cowl neck hanging in my closet back home…hoping that maybe I’ll get another chance to wear it again.  Probably not…I should just donate it.  Anyway, love the color.  It looks great on everybody and makes you feel powerful when you wear it.  Here’s a look that I threw together while playing dress up the other day with myself!  I’ll probably shimmy out in this look this holiday party season, so don’t be surprised if you see me rock it.

Throwback Thursday: Don’t you wanna Fanta?

Last week’s Mickey Mouse throwback got such a great response, so I thought I’d throw out another….Orange Fanta.  Remember when this soda was so hot in the 80’s and early 90’s?    Before society got wind that soda’s were evil and banned them from schools?  I never really liked the artificial taste of orange soda, but I totally dug the electrifying color.  Insert Fanta tee (below).

Bold Preppy

I used to think that preppy meant boring.  You know, like Bitsy and Bob dressed from head to toe in their matching tennis outfits and cardigans tied perfectly around their shoulders.  We really owe a big thank you to J Crew for reinventing preppy.  I love what they’ve done to mix bold colors and patterns, and really turn preppy upside down (in a good way).  Here’s a look inspired by that, although funny enough, none of the pieces are actually from J Crew.

P.S. If you’re a J Crew aficionado like my friend Char, then you need to check out her blog jenesaisChar.

Throwback Thursday: Mickey Mouse Rules

In honor of Throwback Thursday, I’m giving a nod to my ole pal Mickey Mouse.  Ah, yeah!

When I was kid, I won a Mickey Mouse plush doll at Disneyland, but my mom gave it to my cousin in Taiwan since she was obsessed with Mickey and never had a chance to go to the park.  I was crushed, but sucked it up since I was a nice kid.  So, when I was Urban Outfitters a few years back and spotted this tee from a distance, it was like it was meant to be.   It’s like Mickey Mouse meets psychedelic, rock and roll. To complete the vintage look, I even threw on some Van’s.  I’m not trying to perpetuate the stereotype that all Asians  throw up peace signs when taking photos, but I kind of am.  I am embracing it and  just having fun with it.  How can you not?  It’s Mickey!

NOTE:  It’s really hard to wink gracefully.  Here’s my best attempt at it.
